1.RosebankThe Guesthouse (listed on the Australian Heritage Database) provides a unique and special place where you can immerse yourself in the history of days gone by in the banking chamber and residence of the old Bank of NSW or soak up the contemporary atmosphere of the Gallery and Art space.  Each of the people who have owned and resided at Rosebank for the past century has contributed to the rich tapestry that is now open for guests to enjoy.

A branch of the bank of NSW opened in Millthorpe on 13 June 1887.  In 1887, the Bank of NSW purchased the block that Rosebank stands on to build a bank.  It was in 1902 that the bank and residence was built at a cost of 2707 pounds.  It was designed by the architect Frederick Jenkins.  It operated as a bank until 31 January 1981 when it closed, and has then been used as a guest house, Bed and Breakfast, Functions Centre and Restaurant.  It is described as’ Victorian Italianate’ style in the banking chamber, and ‘Transitional Late Victorian Early Federation’ style to the attached residence.  The original stable and shed can be found at the back, and this is now used as a garage.  It remains a landmark feature in the streetscape and history of Millthorpe.

It is now operating fully as Rosebank Guesthouse and Rosebank Cottage, with the added attraction of an artist in residence, a Gallery and Artspace.

Your stay at Rosebank will be enhanced by the beautiful gardens that invite you to sit and soak up their magic, the array of rose bushes, and plants that flower throughout the year, the huge verandahs that wrap around the building, and the special alcoves where you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of the local wines, or just relax and while away the hours.  And what a wonderful, warm and interesting place Millthorpe is.  Chat to the locals, stroll to the restaurants, cafe’s, shops and cellar doors, or join in the many wonderful events that take place throughout the year.

There are 4 restful and tastefully appointed bedrooms; with double or twin options; the art space, dining room, and sitting rooms, with places to join others, or find gentle seclusion.  The Guesthouse is ideal for couples or groups for weekend retreats, reunions, writing, creating or just relaxing.  In the first year of operation, Rosebank has hosted wedding parties, cyclist groups, conferences,  gallery openings, girls weekends, and many other group and individual celebrations. The owners will be happy to help with your own unique requirements.
